And it was a tad too heavy which proved annoying after extended play. It proved almost impossible to calibrate properly, which basically made pancakes out of me in the latter sections of the game. (Signs of being rushed, no doubt) First quibble was the gun itself. In the Original Mode, you can choose different characters and use different weapons, and although these are only superficial additions, they don’t hurt the game, and make the home conversion more worthwhile.įor a game that had such high production values, it was unfortunate that Sega couldn’t fix some small problems. Like I said before, the split paths were a delightful inclusion that boosted the game’s replay value, not to mention the special original mode that makes the conversion that much better. One big difference about this light-gun shooter is that it requires three or four hits to take down an enemy whereas in Virtua Cop or Time Crisis, one well-placed shot was enough. The action is paced very fast, with hardly enough time for a blink. The way the game plays is a fresh change from other similar titles in the genre. Throwing around millions of polygons at 60fps is not easy! It was probably the only scary element in the whole game!) What really makes the thing incredible is the speed and smoothness the whole game runs at. (You should have seen the Saturn try and handle this ‘effect’ in Hotd. The way the zombies get blown apart when you shoot them is a testament to the Dreamcast’s power.

If you could set aside the smaller TV size and lack of a curtain the game would be literally indistinguishable from its arcade brother. Many gamers said the next generation of gaming came upon us when Soul Calibur arrived, but in my opinion, we were already there with this amazing looking piece of software. Saving hostages and obtaining keys are the way about unlocking HotD2’s cooler scenarios and this is very difficult, which lends the title excellent replay value.Īs I mentioned before, the graphics in HotD2 are absolutely astounding.

And it’s not like you can choose how you want to complete the level. HotD2 features levels that you can complete in many different ways. But what sets this apart from other games in the genre is HotD2’s split paths and amazing graphics. What you have here is a bunch detectives dumped into an 18th century town overrun with zombies and a mad psycho behind it (sorry for the cliched plot summary, but that’s what it is, isn’t it?). It’s a light-gun shooter, so basically your only task is to shoot everything that moves (and some things that don’t move, come to think of it…). They’re not that scary, but then again, HotD2 was never about frightening the audience.
So with that thought firmly in mind, do gamers have yet another reason to love the horrifying undead creatures? But despite this, gamers everywhere love them. Playing this game with a controller is like eating toffe with false teeth so if you dont have a gun and want this game,I reccomend buying a gun with it.The game is self controlled, meaning that it controls where you go and you cant move around with a joystick.Depending on what happens in the game, or hwo/what you shoot for that matter, different routs can be taken to finish the game.This does not happen with most oter games (Exept lylat wars on N64) and is a nice touch to the game. They start off driving in james's car looking for G from the last game and are ran off road by a wierd looking bat wo says "I have already taken care of G this is only the beginning" and then gary and james are attacked by zombies.This is when the players kick ass with the gun. The game starts off with one (or two) of the main characters, James and depending wether you have a friend playing, the second character is Gary.Both american.Both AMS Agents with pistols capable of sooting grenades, shotgun cartridges, lures (Lures?) or just about anything for that matter. The story continues on from the last game.When the mad scientist, Dr.Curion (I think thats his name.) dies at the end of the last game on the saturn, someone takes over.a man with enough money to continue mass production of these monsters. Have you ever wondered what its like in a zombie infested city when you have to save the world with one companion? Well you will know once you play this game.Its a race against time to stop the evil madman "goldman" and his "creations" from taking over the world.
